Are We Competitive With Each Other?
We were recently asked if we are competitive with each other, and in short the answer is… YES!
If you didn’t already know, Ruth and I have been married since 2017. We live together, have kids together and we work together. There’s no escape from each other! Only kidding… kind of.
Most husband/wife photography teams we are aware of, photography was one of their passions that was simply shared with the other partner. We’re different in that we were both photographers before we met and so we had double the initial passion when it came to cameras.
In our daily lives we can be (light-heartedly) competitive with each other, whether it’s who can find the best colour to paint a wall, who is the better chef, who ran the better route, and it’s no different when it comes to shooting a wedding.
If we’re lucky enough to be asked to be the videographer and photographer on a couple’s wedding, all day we’ll be working together to get the best shots possible. Sometimes it almost turns into a tiny competition between us like... ‘who got the better shot’?
As we are both equally passionate about capturing weddings in the most creative way possible, over the years we’ve found a bit of healthy competition is a good thing!
