Do We Shoot Anything Other Than Weddings?
We often get asked the question… “Do you guys shoot anything other than weddings?”… and in short the answer is yes we do!
At the time of writing this it’s early 2026 which means we are at the beginning of our 12th year (crazy huh?) of capturing weddings in Northern Ireland and beyond. Shooting weddings in that time has been our main focus, our main job (although it’s often too fun to call it that) that we absolutely love every part of. We do however have a few other projects we work on when we are not shooting or editing weddings.
As wedding photographers and video makers, we feel like it’s super important and useful to have other projects to work on outside of weddings. Through working on other projects (whether that’s studio work, landscape photography, product shots, capturing events etc.) we pick up new skills and techniques that can be brought back into shooting weddings for couples in Northern Ireland.
Read on to find out more about some of our other projects…
Native Ivy
Ruth runs a product, brand and lifestyle photography project called Native Ivy and has made a name for herself for capturing local people and products ‘native’ to the island. Whether it’s working with artists, candle makers, jewellery makers, restaurants, coffee shops, Airbnbs, design spaces or magazines - Ruth’s eye for detail and ability to capture things in a natural and beautiful way, helps local businesses communicate their brand story through her images.
Through Native Ivy, Ruth has massively developed her skills as a photographer and videomaker. She has an ability to quietly capture a ‘feeling’ and subtly captures things in a truly unobtrusive and natural way - all skills which she brings to her wedding photography work with Soul & Rise.

ROSSANDHISJPEGS
Ross started the channel @rossandhisjpegs as an outlet for his photography/video work that exists outside of weddings. Whether it’s personal photography projects, or videos about testing camera settings, his following has grown beyond anything he could have anticipated.
Ross regularly posts videos (usually talking about camera settings) on his YouTube and Instagram platforms and over the last number of years has collaborated with companies like Panasonic.
Alongside documenting the development of his video and photography craft through his YouTube channel, Ross also has been practising finding stories and emotion in hidden places. Nostalgia plays a big role for Ross whether that’s recording the places he grew up, capturing his own family on a daily basis, or shooting moments at weddings to turn them into future memories for couples.
Ross is good at seeing the bigger picture, looking behind the curtain beyond the surface layer, past the thing in front of his lens… to the deeper story waiting to be told.

The more work we do outside of weddings and the more people we work with, the more skills we learn and can draw on for capturing weddings under Soul & Rise! We believe this gives us abilities to be quicker, more creative, and have a more alternative and unique approach when shooting a couple’s big day.
